Careers Wales Mark
We at Woodlands were the first special school in Wales to gain this award in recognition of the high standard of the school’s provision in the areas of careers and the world of work.
The whole school initiative was led by Lisa Purcell (Deputy Head) and is now being carried forward by Vivian Doel (TLR for 14-19 Pathways) and supported by all practitioners that teach within the department. To receive the award the school was evaluated against the Careers Wales World of Work framework and the Estyn Inspection framework. A Careers Action Plan was created, implemented and reviewed, which provided evidence for an external verifier to check that progress of continuing improvement is in place whilst ensuring there is a clear commitment to improve student learning.
Woodlands High School can now display the Careers Wales Mark on its letterhead and website for three years.
