Woodlands School Council 2018-19

This year school council is run by Mr Payton and Mrs Smith.

Our elected school councillors are: -

Key Stage 3 - Shakeera Pace and Joshua Hill

Key Stage 4 - Lili Rees and Jay Jones

Post 16 - Wesley Roberts and Shakira Gibson

Heads of houses and House Captains also site on the school council.

We have a strong School Council through which pupils have the opportunity to express their very important views on all aspects of school life.

Representatives from each key stage are chosen by vote and attend lunchtime meetings every two weeks. Minutes are kept and staff and governors are kept informed about discussions and decisions made in the meetings.

The school council have been charged with a variety of tasks including some of the steering of the schools Eco work and been key workers in the acquisition of our green flag status and have sought the views of their peers in some of the development proposals for our school grounds.

Pupils also have the opportunity to share their views in Home Room sessions which are led by form tutors. These views are also shared amongst colleagues and relayed to senior leaders and governors.

At any time, pupils can request to speak with staff members about issues which concern them or ideas they wish to share.

This year our council plan to attend 'Grand Council' meetings and we have also been invited to select a student to sit on the Cardiff Youth Council. This is fantastic and has further enabled our students to have a voice across the city.
