Woodlands High School

Year 7 & Transition

At Woodlands we understand the importance of a smooth transition for year six pupils. We aim to provide pupils with a range of activities in the Summer term before they join us so that they can start in September as happy and confident year 7s. This year these activities included Art, English, Maths, PE and Food Tech sessions. During these sessions pupils have the opportunity to meet with teachers and teaching assistants and to get to know the building. All year six pupils are also allocated a ‘buddy’ from Woodlands who will look out for them during transition activities and when they start in September. As well as the Summer term activities we have a transition café once a month that is open to all year six pupils, their families and staff from their primary school. This café is well attended by our Riverbank neighbours but is open to anyone about to start at our school.
